Rosko is one of my best friends, an amazing guy, great musician, surfer, father and all around nice guy. Originally born in the Scottish Highlands, he travelled around for a few years. He started working for a small Dutch surf travel outfit in Portugal (Atlantic Riders) where he met Marjolein. They fell in love, Marjolein returned for a second week, and as they say, the rest is history.
Rosko is one of those guys who can do anything they want. For instance Rosko plays guitar, didgeridoo, saxofoon, trumpet, sitar, banjo and his latest new instrument is the ukelele. he can probably play more…. Just give him an instrument wait a few weeks and he’ll play some tunes. Same with surfing. He thought boards are way too expensive, I’ll make my own. He started working for french shaper Abezat, learned some new skill and created the possibility to shape boards with Arnaud’s guidance. Nowadays he works at the Uithof in the Hague. he’s resposible for the maintenance of the indoor skislope. So in the last few years he had to learn cooling, welding, electricty, pistebully driving (and mainenance), all the workings of the lifts, snowmachines an the list goes on and on.
He’s father of 14 month old Aiden and doing a great job!!
Now that is job at the Uithof is ending in a few months he’s looking to get into arborism. Which I think is perfect for Rosko. Outside working, climbing the trees. As he has done before, he can create that possibility too if he puts his mind to it!!
Here he is playing my guitar in the yard at Noa’s 4th birthday with Aiden on his lap.
I hope to see more of you this summer than the last few months, so see you soon bro!
Nikon D300 and the 17-55mm 2.8 lighted with a sb800 in my left hand using the Nikon CLS high speed sync to control the ambient and get a decent aperture. I think it was shot at 1000th of a sec at F2.8. The flash with diffusor is at camera left about a meter from him, blasting at about full power judging by the reload times.. Amazing technology which I want to experiment more with!
