I met Edwin for the first time today. Edwin is Polish and has been in Holland for about 20 years. He came to Holland when he was 18 and went straight to work. He had a choice to follow different courses through the employment agency. But when you’re 18 the choice between working and making money is more attractive then sitting inside and studying. In those days you could make more than 3 months wages in Poland in one month in Holland. So he chose to work. He has done all sorts of work, mostly construction related things. Lately he has done a lot of site building for a telecom provider. Today he was working at the tower in Amsterdam replacing microwave links. I thought it was good to hear that he is a self employed entrepreneur, and he takes any job he can and getting paid properly. He is married and has a kid. His wife used to work in a photography lab, has an education for it too. But since the digital revolution she is out of that line of work and into something else. I’m sorry I forgot what.
I used the high sync speed of the Nikon D70 to control the ambient light and get some detail in the sky. I actually used the on camera flash on manual at full power. It’s a bit against my principals to use the on camera flash, but you make do with what you have.
